About US

Ben Moyer grew up helping his family on the farm growing and selling produce and fall mums and pumpkins, starting with 1800 mums.  In 2006, Ben took over the retail business from his parents, and decided to concentrate on the fall products only, therefore becoming Moyers Mum Farm.  In 2010, Ben married Tonya and together they have expanded the business to over 35,000 mums. In 2019, Ben and Tonya decided to sell the retail side of the business and move the wholesale side back to their farm location. They have two children Annie and Kaleb who have become very helpful in both the operation of the farm and helping with the mums.

When the mums are first delivered to the farm they arrive as a 3-inch rooted cutting in trays of 72. We then organize them into the order they will be planted making it easy for placement in the fields which also helps at harvest time when we need certain colors for certain orders.

Each mum cutting get’s planted into it’s own pot with a tag describing it’s color. Our son Kaleb is keeping a watchful eye to make sure everything gets in the pot correctly.

The mum then gets placed on the mum field where it will grow all summer till harvest time in Fall. Our Daughter Annie loves to be out in the fields keeping everything lined up and placed right where it needs to be.

Once the mum pots are placed in the fields they are then connected to the watering system where they will receive the nutrients and water they need to survive while they grow.

We plant an assortment of pot sizes. Our most popular is our 8inch but we do also offer 9inch aster, 10inch Hanging baskets, 12inch tricolor hanging basket, 14inch deck planter a 14inch tricolor deck planter, a 21inch whiskey barrel and our largest pot size is our 30inch planter.

Once everything is placed in the fields we then go through on a daily basis to make sure everything is growing the way it should be and that the plant is getting the nutrients and water it needs to survive though the irrigation system.

To say Moyers Mum Farm likes to grow mums is probably an understatement. When Ben first started growing them, he grew about 1800. After realizing that there was a need for a good quality product the decision to increase wasn’t a hard one to make.  After selling out year after year Ben and Tonya knew they needed to step up their game, so they increased to 25,000. They thought that was a good number to be at but turns out they were proven wrong again. So, after yet another sold out year they jumped to 35,000.

Mums bloom from Mid-August to Late October. This gives you a constant flow of mums for your retail location allowing you to have an assortment of colors throughout the whole season. Our main pot size is our 8inch (featured below is this picture). We also do a 10inch hanging basket, a 14inch single and tricolor planter, a 9inch aster and new this year a 12inch tricolor hanging basket. For businesses or anyone needing to fill in a big space we do also grow a 21inch whiskey barrel and a 30inch deck planter but those are by custom order only so please call if you have interest in those. Also please keep in the mind, the size listed is simply the pot, the plant itself is generally twice as big as the pot so the mum itself it very nice and full. When calling to place an order, we try our best to get everyone schedule quickly but do ask that you give us at least a 48-hour notice. You can call or text Ben directly and he can help with questions or get that scheduled for you. We only allow Monday-Friday to pick up, no weekends, and we do not deliver or ship. Payment is also due upon pickup.

For every order, we customize and individually pick mums from our fields creating a balance of mixed colors. The wagons are then staged in our waiting area ready for pick up.
